XP Debuts the CPL Series of Dual-Output Switching Power SuppliesAugust 15, 1999 by Jeff Shepard
XP plc (UK) announced the new CPL Series of dual-output switching power supplies featuring compact PCB construction. The range is comprised of six different models offering a choice of 5V with either 12V or 24V secondary outputs and overall power ratings of 100W, 150W or 225W. The switchers are suitable for use as the primary supply for a wide range of mains-powered equipment.
Sizes range from 222mm x 75mm x 32mm for 100W units to 222mm x 95mm x 42mm for 225W models. All feature universal 85Vac to 264Vac (120Vdc to 370Vdc) inputs, with +/-10-percent adjustment on the primary output.
Line and load regulation are 0.4 and 0.8 percent of maximum, respectively, and maximum output ripple and noise is 150mV peak-peak.
The operating temperature range is -10 to 70 degrees C, with derating required above 50 degrees C.
The CPL Series features a typical 0.99 power factor; complies with international EMC requirements (including EN55022-B); carries safety approvals from UL, C-UL and VDE, and is CE marked in accordance with the requirements of the Low-Voltage Directive.
Over-voltage and over-current protection are provided as standard. Options include remote control, a low leakage-current variant (0.1mA maximum), and cover and screw terminals. There is also a provision on the PCB to mount an additional dc/dc convertor to provide up to two additional outputs.
