VPT Debuts New DVCH Series DC-DC Converter

May 18, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

VPT Inc. (Blacksburg, VA) introduced its new DVCH Series of ultra-low power output dc-dc converters, which deliver just 1.5 W in for use in critical-reliability applications. Manufactured in VPT’s facility qualified to MIL-PRF-38534, the new DVCH dc-dc converter is built to withstand the rigors of flight in aircraft and space applications.

The DVCH Series converters feature a low 1.5 W point-of-use power; a tiny size of 0.975 in x 0.8 in x 0.27 in; a low output noise of just 50 mvPP; a low input noise of just 30 mvPP; inherent radiation immunity; VPT’s proprietary magnetic isolation technology; single voltage outputs of 3.3 V, 5 V, 5.2 V, 12 V and 15 V; dual outputs of ±5 V, ±12 V, ±15 V (available later this year); high efficiency; a wide military input-voltage range of 12 V to 50 V input voltage, with a nominal of 28 V; a wide military temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C; under-voltage lockout circuitry; an 11 g precision projection-welded hermetic package; and a high-input transient voltage tolerance of 80 V for 1 sec per MIL-STD-704A.

The DVCH model is available now starting at $190 per unit in OEM quantities.
