Vishay Unveils New FX5545G108 DC-DC Buck Converter

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new FX5545G108 fully integrated, dc-dc buck converter that delivers power density of more than 570 W/in³ in a 20-port, surface-mount, BGA package with an area of 0.58 in x 0.48 in x 0.126 in (14.7 mm x 12.2 mm x 3.2 mm). The new converter is suitable for point-of-load applications, as well as use in amplifiers, VoIP platforms, routers, professional digital cameras, portable computers and battery backup systems.

The new FX5545G108 FunctionPAK® device converts 2.5 V to 6 V inputs to an output-voltage range of 0.9 V to 4.5 V with efficiency up to 95%. The FX5545G108 is rated for maximum current of 4 A and for output power of 15 W, with a 1 µA shutdown current. For maximum reliability, the BGA package for FunctionPAK is rated for the full industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.

Samples and production quantities of the FX5545G108 converter are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery in 10,000-piece quantities is approximately $5.00.
