Vishay Intros ICM-0805/1206 SMT Choke Circuits

July 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced the release of two surface-mount (SMT), common-mode, choke circuits featuring a wirewound design that enables lower dc resistance, higher current-handling capability and greater stability. The ICM-0805 and ICM-1206 choke circuits are designed to provide noise suppression in universal serial bus (USB) 2.0; FireWire®/IEEE 1394; low-voltage, differential signaling; and other high-speed, digital interfaces incorporated in end products, including notebooks and personal computers, digital cameras, and scanners.

The ICM-0805 features maximum dc resistance from 0.20Ù to 0.45Ù at rated currents from 450mA down to 280mA, and common-mode impedance ranging from 30Ù to 370Ù at 100MHz. Maximum dc resistance for the ICM-1206 ranges from 0.3Ù to 1.2Ù with rated current ranging from 370mA to 200mA, and common-mode impedance from 90Ù to 2,200Ù. Both devices feature a rated voltage of 50V, a withstanding voltage of 125V, and insulation resistance of 10mÙ.

Packaged in lead-free, SMT designs that feature solderability and high resistance to solder heat, the new devices enable easy assembly with flow and reflow soldering. The ICM-0805 and ICM-1206 measure 0.079in x 0.047in and 0.126in x 0.063in , respectively, with heights of 0.047in and 0.075in . Both devices offer high reliability over an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

Samples and production quantities of the ICM-0805 and ICM-1206 are available now. Lead time for production quantities is six to eight weeks. Pricing for delivery ranges from $0.23 to $0.27 for large-volume orders.
