Vishay Announces New Series of Aluminum Solid Capacitors With Conductive Polymer

New Products Dec 09, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of a new series of aluminum solid capacitors featuring conductive polymer technology that offers high ripple currents, high voltages, and high-temperature performance in five case sizes.

According to Vishay, when compared to similar conductive polymer capacitors, the 94SVPD series offers an improved maximum temperature rating of +125 °C and higher voltage ratings to 35V. Additional features include a high-rated ripple current to 3.8A at 100 kHz and +105°C, and low ESR down to 28mΩ at 100 kHz.

As solid-electrolyte devices, the 94SVPD capacitors’ specifications make them well suited for smoothing, filtering, buffering, and voltage decoupling applications in vehicle-mounted engine control, power management, and conversion equipment; SMPS, measurement and control, and automation systems in industrial equipment; and telecom systems.

The devices offer an improved damp heat (steady state) performance at +85 °C, 85 to 90% RH for 1000 hours at rated voltage. The RoHS-compliant capacitors can support lead (Pb)-free reflow soldering.

Production quantities of the new capacitors are available now, with lead times of 14 weeks for larger orders. Pricing per piece depends on case size, values, and volume ordered. Examples of pricing for the 94SVPD series are $1.45 for a 25V, 10µF device in the 6.3 by 5.mm case size, and $2.50 for a 35V, 47µF device in the 10 by 12.6mm case size.
