Velocium Unveils AUH232 Modulator Driver

April 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Velocium (El Segundo, CA) announced its AUH232 40Gbps modulator driver, which delivers 8Vpp of single-ended output, making it suitable to drive LiNbO3 modulators at 43Gbps. The device also features a bandwidth of 50GHz, enabling it to be used in OC-768/STM-256 network systems and communications test equipment.

The 0.1µm GaAs pHEMT-based device serves as an output-stage amplifier that produces a high-voltage, high-speed signal from an input of <3Vpp. The device dissipates 1.25W of power and features a rise time of <8ps, as well as variable gain and eye cross-point control capability. The AUH232 is available either as a fixture or a bare die.
