Tyco Electronics Unveils JRW040 DC/DC Converter

August 07, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Systems (Dallas, TX) announced its new JRW040 Series of 40A, dc/dc converters in an industry-standard half-brick, single-board package, which targets next-generation semiconductors used in wireless, access and optical network equipment.

The JRW040 features ultra-high efficiencies of 91 percent at a 3.3V output, external dimensions of 2.04in x 2.28in (61mm x 57.9mm), a height of 0.374in (9.5mm), input voltages ranging from 36Vdc to 75Vdc (48V nominal), output voltages from 5V to 1.0V, an optional load-sharing feature (parallel operation), a monotonic voltage output, tightly regulated outputs (typically ±1 percent), low ripple and noise, auto restart after fault shutdown, over-temperature protection, output over-current and over-voltage protection, and input under-voltage protection.

The JRW Series is available in 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.5V, 1.2V and 1.0V output-voltage models, priced at $100.10 for 1,000-unit quantities. Samples are available now.
