Tyco Electronics Presents New EUE200 Converter

May 17, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Systems Inc. (Dallas, TX) announced its new EUE200 eighth-brick bus dc-dc converter, which supports applications where multiple low voltages are generated using discrete/modular point-of-load (POL) converters. Providing up to 200 W of output power, the EUE200 converter is suitable for compact-space, high-current and intermediate bus voltage applications used in servers and storage applications, access, optical network, wireless and enterprise equipment.

The EUE200 converter incorporates synchronous rectification technology and packaging techniques to achieve an ultra-high efficiency reaching 95 percent at 12 V full load. Operating over a narrow input voltage range of 42 Vdc to 55 Vdc, the modules provide a single output voltage of unregulated four to one step-down ratio between input/output with 200 W, respectively. The EUE200 operates in temperatures ranging from –40 °C to +85 °C. They are built around an industry-standard, eighth brick footprint of 2.28 in x 0.90 in x 0.41 in (57.9 mm x 22.9 mm x 10.4 mm), a low-profile footprint used for implementation in fine pitch system card architectures.

The EUE200 modules are available now, priced at $41.20 in 1,000-unit quantities.
