Tyco Electronics Debuts QBK033 Series Bus Converter
Tyco Electronics Power Systems Inc. (Dallas, TX) debuted its 400 W QBK033 Series quarter-brick bus converter for high-power high-density applications and intermediate bus architectures in enterprise equipment, data processing equipment, and server and storage applications.
The QBK033 Series is a semi-regulated unit that produces an efficiency of 94% and power density of 288 W/in² (18 W/cm³) for a 400 W, quarter-brick power module. It has an input-voltage range of 36 Vdc to 60 Vdc and is able to deliver up to 33 A of output current. Its nominal output voltage is 12 Vdc with overall line, load and temperature regulation of only ±5%. The converter can reach a high capacitive load of up to 10,000 µF while exhibiting low output ripple and noise, and responding rapidly to sudden load changes.
The QBK033 converter employs a full-bridge conversion topology with synchronous rectification on the secondary, and incorporates edge-plating and packaging technology to achieve thermal performance. With an industry-standard quarter-brick pin out of 57.9 mm x 36.8 mm x 10.6 mm (2.28 in x 1.45 in x 0.42 in), the QBK dc-dc bus converter operates over wide temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. It is also fully compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (200/95/EC).
The QBK033 module is priced at $56.87 for 1,000 units, and targets enterprise data customers. Samples are available now.
