TRACOPOWER Unveils New DC-DC Converter

December 19, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

TRACOPOWER introduced it's new R-3™ series of wide input range dc-dc converters that offer 3W of power for a 50% increase from traditional 0.86 x 0.36 x 0.44" SIP package converters.

The R-3™ series is a new family of isolated 3W dc-dc converter modules with regulated output, featuring wide 2:1 input voltage ranges of 4.5~9/9~18/18~36/36~75 Vdc Inputs and outputs of 5/12/15/24/±5/±/12/±15 Vdc. The product comes in an ultra-compact plastic 8-Pin SIP package with a small footprint occupying only 0.31 (square inch) of board space. All models feature full load operation over the complete temperature range of –40~+70°C (ambient); internal input filtration; high reliability of >2.4 million hours MTBF; 1500 Vdc isolation; and tight regulation of 0.2% line/0.5% load.

Further features include remote On/Off control and continuous short circuit protection. The very compact dimensions of these converters make them a suitable solution for many space critical applications in communication equipment, instrumentation and industrial electronics. Shutdown input for low power consumption during stand-by operation make these converters particularly interesting for battery operated and green power compliant applications.

The R-3™ products are lead-free and RoHS compliant. Units are in full production with deliveries available from stock to 8 weeks. Pricing is as low as $11.50 for 1,000 pieces.
