Traco Power Introduces Two Series of Isolated DC/DC Converters

January 12, 2021 by Gary Elinoff

The 12 watt devices are available in DIP-16 metal packages and achieve a power density of 3.61 watt/cm3

The Tel 12 and TEL WI 12 watt DC/DC converter series from Traco feature 2:1 and 4:1 input ranges covering 9 to 75 volts, with outputs of 5.1, 12, ±12, 15, ±15 or 24 VDC

What are 2:1 and 4:1 Input Ranges?

A 2:1 input range converter accepts power ranging from a given voltage to twice that voltage. A 4:1 input range device works with voltages ranging from a given voltage to four times that voltage.

Members of the TEL 12 series are 2:1 input devices. Individual series members  accept inputs from 9 to 18 volts, 18 to 36 volts, or 36 to 75 volts

Members of the TEL 12WI series are 4:1 input devices. Individual series members  accept inputs from 9 to 36 volts or 18 to 75 volts

These features allow an OEM to stock few power converter models that serve a broader range of design purposes. For example, a converter that can work a 4:1 range of 18 to 75 volts can work with both of the ever more important 24 and 48 VDC input voltage rails.
