TelCom Semiconductor Announces New TC2575 and TC2576 DC/DC Switching Regulators

April 02, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

TelCom Semiconductor Inc. (Mountain View, CA) announced the latest additions to its line of power-management products, the TC2575 and TC2576 dc/dc switching regulators that provide a simple, highly power-efficient buck regulator solution.

According to TelCom, the TC2575 can drive a 1.0A load with excellent line and load regulation, while the TC2576 is a 3.0A switching regulator. These devices can be configured to provide any one of several different output voltages (3.3V, 5.0V, 12.0V or the adjustable version) and to minimize the need for multiple external components to simplify power-supply designs.

The TC2575 and TC2576 are highly integrated and feature a main power device, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, over-temperature protection, and an external shutdown signal input to set the device in a low-power standby mode (at a low 60uA).

TelCom claims that the power dissipated by these devices is so low that the copper traces on the printed circuit board are normally the only heatsink needed and no additional heatsinking is required. The TC2575 and TC2576 include a guaranteed +/- 4 percent tolerance on output voltage within specified input voltages and output-load conditions.

Pricing for the TC2575 starts at $2.17 in quantities of 1,000, while the TC2576 starts at $2.34.
