TDI Debuts the FCE Series of DC/AC Inverters

July 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

TDI Transistor Devices Inc. (Cedar Knolls, NJ) announced the introduction of the FCE Series of modular, scaleable, 5.0kVA, dc/ac, pure sinewave inverters. Designed for residential, vehicular and industrial fuel cell applications, the FCE Series provides full power from -20 to 60 degrees C. It utilizes high-frequency pulse-width modulation to synthesize a precision-regulated sinusoidal output with less than two-percent total harmonic distortion. Units are also capable of parallel and synchronized operation and can be user-configured to provide single- or three-phase ac output. The FCE Series is available in 120Vac and 220Vac output versions.

The FCE Series offers an input range from 160Vdc to 300Vdc. It is available in a 19in rack that accepts two 5.0kVA FCE inverters for a combined 10kVA output, or n+1 redundant ac power. The FCE inverter is microprocessor-based, completely isolated, and features voltage- and current-monitoring. In addition, the inverters have input- and output-good signals, summary fault signals, over- and under-voltage, overload, reverse polarity, and thermal protection.

The FCE Series inverters are available in either a modular rack-mount or a shelf-mount stand-alone enclosure. Pricing starts at $2,750 in OEM quantities. Typical delivery for standard units is three to four weeks.
