SynQor Adds New 9.6V 43A Bus Converter

New Products Aug 23, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor announced the release of the BQ55090QPA40, an isolated step-down quarter brick converter within its BusQor range targeting Intermediate Bus Architectures (IBA). The unit can provide up to 43A of useable current at 6.5-11Vout from a 35-55V input voltage range. This unregulated device can be thought of as a dc transformer with a ratio of 5:1 from input to output, hence supplying a nominal 9.6Vout at 48Vin.

The device sets itself apart from its competitors when considering the product's derating performance. With just 100LFM (0.5m/s) of airflow, the open-frame device can provide full current (43A) at up to 55°C ambient temperature. This is achieved in part as a result of the device's 97% efficiency.

The BQ55090QPA40 is very scalable and multiple units can be directly paralleled to create higher power solutions. The unit provides basic isolation from input to output at a level of 2000Vdc. Protection features include input under-voltage lockout, output current limit, short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. Operating temperature range is -40 to +100°C. The unit is available as fully RoHS compliant.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 8-week lead-time. The modules are priced at $63.20 in OEM quantities.
