Synergistic Technology Solutions Introduces Its First AC-DC Power Modules

Synergistic Technology Solutions (STS) introduced a new family of compact board mount ac-dc converters that reduce board space while providing regulated and fault-protected power up to 5W. The new BlueCube power module family, the company’s first standard product offering, is available in two series – the LX3i (3W) and LX5i (5W). They are claimed to offer engineers an immediate drop-in ac-dc solution with what is claimed to be the industry’s smallest footprint (1.80 x 0.80 inches) and require no additional external components.

All BlueCube modules operate over a wide input voltage range (85-265Vac) and offer outputs of 5, 9, 12, 15 or 24 Vdc. They meet worldwide energy efficiency specifications including ENERGY STAR and California’s CEC standard for external power supplies. The fully isolated and encapsulated BlueCube converters are well suited for a variety of ac-dc power applications including powering remote and networked sensors, IR receivers, audio, video, security, building automation, power-line carrier, relay drivers, test equipment, ac power adapters, and bias supplies. The product is also suitable for providing standby mode power in consumer electronics and appliances, providing power to system clocks, processors, membrane keypads, IR remote receivers and LED lighting panels.

BlueCube modules are fully potted to withstand the harsh environment of industrial applications and are completely fault-protected with integrated over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over temperature protection circuitry. The modules are RoHS / lead-free compliant, UL/CSA recognized and FCC certified for EMI.

The modules are available in two package options: traditional PCB pin-out for onboard applications or a flying wire-out option for greater off-board mounting flexibility. Pricing for the 3 W rated LX3i modules is $4.28 each in 10,000 piece quantities, while pricing for the 5W rated LX5i modules is $4.93 each in the same quantity. All modules are available for immediate delivery.
