STMicroelectronics Announces STE2000, STE2001 LCD Driver ICs
STMicroelectronics (ST, Lexington, MA) introduced new LCD driver ICs that complete the company's range of semiconductor products for cellular phones. Called STE2000 and STE2001, the new chips integrate a controller/driver for 65 x 128 column black and white graphic LCDs. ST reports that the drivers feature low power consumption and a high level of integration. They are suitable for use in compact battery-powered products, including cellular phones, music players and portable games.
The STE2000 and STE2001 contain all of the circuits needed to control and drive displays up to 65 x 128, including graphics functions and a selectable interface for connection to I2C, serial or parallel ports. No external components are required. The two types differ in the mechanical layout of the bonding pads.
Both the STE2000 and STE2001 are sampling to major LCD manufacturers around the world and are ready for volume production. In minimum quantities of 10,000, the products are available at $1.95 each.
