Stackpole Electronics Intros HPC Series Power Resistors

New Products Aug 28, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Stackpole Electronics Inc. (SEI, Raleigh, NC) introduced a new surface-mount power resistor, the HPC Series, which is capable of handling up to 12 W at 85 °C. Available in 5 W, 10 W, and 12 W ratings, the HPC Series is available from 0.1 Ω to 100 kΩ. All power ratings come in a 0.5 in x 0.5 in x 0.5 in package size, and are available in tape-and-reel packaging as well as bulk packaging.

The HPC Series employs conventional thick-film chip resistors bonded to the flat surface of a sub-miniature aluminum extruded housing. The aluminum housing has been designed so that heat is efficiently transferred from the initial resistor/aluminum interface to all other parts of the aluminum structure. The surface area of the aluminum housing will exhibit a precise thermal resistance to air moving over that complete surface area.

Pricing for the HPC Series resistors is $0.75 each, with lead times from six to eight weeks.
