Sprague-Goodman Expands FILMTRIM Capacitors

January 26, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Sprague-Goodman Electronics Inc. (Westbury, NY) has expanded its line of FILMTRIM plastic dielectric trimmer capacitors with the addition of a series of surface-mount capacitors with capacitance ranging from 0.5pF to 4.5pF and 1pF to 20pF. Suitable for RF circuitry, telecommunications, CATV and broadband applications, the capacitors measure 6.8mm x 5.4 x 2.6mm.

The dielectric used is PTFE film. The quality factor is >1,000 (10MHz), while the operating temperature is from -25°C to +85°C. The company claims that the plastic film trimmers are better compared to ceramic dielectric trimmer capacitors, offering improved stability, quality factor and moisture resistance. The plastic trimmers are suitable for flow and reflow soldering and are resistant to a soldering temperature of 260°C for 10s.
