SL Power Electronics Corp. announced a new family of 32W external switch-mode power supplies. Well-suited for telecommunications, broadband and computer peripheral applications, the Ault PW173 desktop series is single output with a power range of 20 to 32W in seven voltage models.

"Available to our customers worldwide, the Ault PW173 provides OEMs with an energy-efficient product that meets global energy requirements," said Greg Harris, Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, SL Power Electronics Corp. "The Ault PW173 meets specifications set by the California Energy Commission, the European Union and Energy Star – meaning the power supply family is on average 35% more efficient than conventional products."

As an Energy Star partner, SL Power Electronics Corp. launched the specification for Energy Star-qualified external power adapters to address the growing energy use from a proliferation of consumer, commercial, industrial and computer-related electronic products requiring power adapters. To help reduce OEM product design-to-production cycle time, the CE-compliant PW173 meets UL60950-1, IEC/EN60950-1 and for EMC: EN55022/55024 61000. All Ault PW173 models have regulated output with low ripple and are available in desktop and wall-plug styles.

The Ault PW173 series is claimed to be a low-cost option for leading OEMs in the data communications, telecommunications or ITE markets. Competitively priced in the $11.75-$12.00 range in OEM quantities of 1,000 (model dependent), the Ault PW173 is said to give users added versatility because it is available in 5, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 48V models.
