Sipex Presents SP6123 DC/DC PWM Controller

January 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex Corp. (Billerica, MA) announced the new SP6123 low-voltage, high-power, efficient dc/dc PWM synchronous buck controller. Microprocessor-based applications include rack-mount network modules, computer daughter cards and smart Internet appliances.

The controller employs dual NFETs and features a programmable output-voltage range down to 0.8V, with an output current of up to 10A. Efficiency is rated at up to 95 percent. With an on-chip reference circuit, the device maintains high accuracy over a range of line, load and temperature conditions. A full 0- to 100-percent duty cycle ensures low dropout in low input-voltage conditions.

Featuring current limit, soft start, shutdown, and under-voltage lockout control and protection features, the SP6123 enables the development of high-current, high-power designs. The 500kHz fixed-frequency device also offers fast transient response to high-speed dynamic loads.

The SP6123, in an eight-lead narrow SOIC, is priced at $0.96 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
