Sipex Intros SP8027 Automatic Power Control IC

New Products Nov 21, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA), a provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits, announced its new SP8027, an automatic power control (APC) IC that offers ultra-fast 5 ns settling times and high 150 MHz bandwidth, both of which remain constant across the entire 12 dB gain adjust range.

In APC products currently in the market, the gain adjust setting directly affects both bandwidth and settling times of the device. As gain is increased, bandwidth decreases and settling time increases. With the SP8027, the compromises in performance have been eliminated, resulting in robust performance for high-speed DVD-write systems.

The SP8027 is available now and priced at $1.15 in 100,000-piece quantities. An evaluation board is also available to assist in the evaluation of the SP8027.
