Sipex Expands White LED Driver Family
Sipex Corporation announced the SP6690, designed to compliment the company's existing white LED drivers. The SP6609 can drive up to 6 serial white LEDs in the latest generation Li-Ion battery powered portable devices. The new driver extends battery life by consuming only 20A (typ) quiescent current and also boasts a low standby current of 10nA.
The SP6690 contains an integrated high voltage (30V) power switch that is current regulated up to 350mA. The inherent current regulation provided to the load results in a consistent brightness from all the LEDs. The combination of high output voltage, high current drive capability and low quiescent current optimizes the product for a wide range of applications and unparalleled performance. The device is designed for battery-powered devices, such as cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players and other consumer products.
"The SP6690 helps our customers shift from monochrome to color displays while ensuring exceptional battery life," said Kevin Plouse, senior vice president of business development. "Sipex has developed this offering to compliment our existing parallel white LED solution and provide a variety of options for our customers."
Typical SP6690 features include: 20A quiescent current, 30V switch voltage rating, standby current in shutdown of 10nA, programmable output current, and a 5 lead SOT-23 package. The SP6690 is available now and is priced at $0.80 in 100,000 piece quantities.
