Sipex Announces New SP2526 Dual-Power Control Switch IC

December 28, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex (Billerica, MA) has announced the availability of its new IC, the SP2526, an integrated 3V to 5V USB dual-power control switch, designed for self-powered and bus-powered USB computer peripherals.

The SP2526 features soft-start, over-current protection, fault notification and enable/disable control. The two independent power switches source 500mA each and are controlled by separate enables. The IC also has a patent-pending 1ms soft-start and 1.25A short-circuit current limit.

“Sipex's SP2526 is the most integrated solution for power switching between a USB host and multiple connected peripherals," said Todd Sherman, Sipex's product line manager for power management. “The SP2526 not only offers full USB compliance, but its low Rds(on) gives designers more margin to use less expensive external components and connectors for an overall lower system cost."
