Silvaco Selected for Bipolar Power Device Design
Silvaco, Inc. announced that WeEn Semiconductors has selected Silvaco's TCAD suite of tools for the design of their next generation power products. WeEn will use Silvaco's TCAD tools for products including power diodes, thyristors, high-voltage power transistors, and other new innovative technologies.
WeEn Semiconductors, a global joint venture of Beijing Jianguang Asset Management and NXP Semiconductors, is focused on improving and developing a complete portfolio of industry-leading bipolar power products.
Silvaco's TCAD products selected include: Process Simulator that provides the capability to simulate full process flows, including etching, deposition, implantation, diffusion, and oxidation. Device Simulator that helps users make reliable predictions of the behavior of devices. This enables improved reliability and scalability, while also helping to increase development speed and reduce risks and uncertainties. Design of experiments software that enables optimization of silicon processes and reducing split lot learning cycles in the fab.
"As we seek to capture the growing opportunities arising from China's demand for electronic products in the consumer, automotive, smart manufacturing and medical equipment sectors, it is imperative that we utilize the best TCAD tools available," said Markus Mosen, CEO of WeEn Semiconductor. "We also chose Silvaco for their ability to provide us excellent support in our design centers located in China."
"While officially a new venture, the experienced team at WeEn Semiconductor is developing some of the most advanced power devices in the world," said Sharon Fang, General Manager of Silvaco China. "The capabilities and roadmap of our TCAD portfolio proved more robust than alternatives in meeting their needs. We look forward to building our close relationship with WeEn as together we will address the upcoming technology challenges in this market."
