Ritar Power Intros Silica Gel Series Batteries

August 10, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Shenzhen Ritar Power Co. Ltd. (China) released its 2V and 12V Gel Series of batteries that use silica gel to immobilize the electrolyte inside the product. The silica gel technology delivers high cycle life and prolongs life in elevated ambient temperatures because the gel transfers heat generated during cycling outside of the battery more efficiently than other valve-regulated lead-acid technologies.

The gel is a mixture of sulphuric acid, water and SiO. The gel system offers the possibility of varying the components and to include certain additives for the cycle stability. The RT12 and RA12 models of the 12V Series are available in 12 models with nominal capacity of 12Ah to 200Ah for 20 hours. The 13 RL2 models of the 2V Series feature a nominal capacity of 52Ah to 3,325Ah for 20 hours.
