New Products Dec 11, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse Engineering Inc. (San Diego, CA) announced the new PowerJack™ Series of dedicated integrated connector modules (ICMs) for end-span, Power-over-Ethernet applications. The modules are the first dedicated one row by one column, one row by two column, and one row by four column ICM solutions compliant with IEEE 802.3af. They maintain system HiPOT integrity and typically provide greater than 2kV isolation.

The product family includes parts JK0-0020, JK0-0025, and JK0-0026 (1x1), JG0-0031 (1x2) and the JG0-0032 (1x4). The PowerJack Series provides in-line power-feeding capability within existing unshielded twisted pair cabling architecture, upgrading an existing Ethernet connection to a powered Ethernet connection conversant to IEEE 802.3af. The PowerJack ICMs are capable of delivering 15W of power to a remote location 100m away. The system includes a battery backup, ensuring data integrity at all times.

The PowerJack ICMs are available in trays with prices for the JK0-0020/25/26 (1x1) Series starting at $3.70, $3.20 and $3.00, respectively, for quantities of 10,000 units. The JG0-0031 (1x2) is $4.00 and the JG0-0032 (1x4) is $7.00 for quantities of 5,000 and 2,500 units, respectively. Volume discounts are available. Lead-time is four to six weeks with samples available within two weeks.
