Power-One Introduces New Programmable 25A POL Converter

April 15, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One, Inc. introduced the 25A YV12T25 POL converter. This robustly-designed programmable product delivers 0.8 to 5.5Vdc from a 10 to 14Vdc input, eliminating the need for multiple host-system circuit-pack designs, and reducing the number of part numbers needed in inventory for board-level point-of-load applications.

Efficiencies exceeding 94%, combined with advanced thermal management techniques, facilitate operation over a -40 to 85°C ambient temperature range. Other high-performance features include no minimum load operation, the capability to start-up into pre-biased loads, and auto-reset output overcurrent protection. Interface features include remote ON/OFF and remote sense. A compact 1.25" x 2.00" x 0.335" (31.7 x 50.8 x 8.50 mm) SIP package minimizes impedance to system airflow, thus enhancing cooling for both upstream and downstream devices. The use of automation for assembly, coupled with advanced power electronics and thermal design, facilitates a 23 million hour MTBF.

Compliances include RoHS, UL94V-0 flammability, and UL60950. Certification to IEC/EN60950 is pending. Pricing is $19.00 each in quantities of 1000. Samples are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.
