Power-One Debuts HHS04Z52 DC/DC Converter
Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) introduced the HHS04Z52 dc/dc converter, an isolated half-brick designed for next-generation IP telephony and power-over-LAN applications requiring compliance to IEEE802.3af. The HHS04Z52 operates over an input-voltage range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc, has a maximum efficiency of over 92%, and provides up to 3.8A of a tightly regulated 52.5Vdc output.
The HHS04Z52 utilizes open-frame construction with two circuit boards to lower component temperatures and increase reliability. The power devices are located on a dedicated board and are connected to an insulated metal substrate (IMS) baseplate, which has a low thermal impedance and provides the flexibility to add a heatsink. Control circuitry is located on a separate board, which is physically isolated from the warmer IMS board. The package measures 2.40in x 2.28in x 0.415in (61.0mm x 57.9mm x 10.54mm).
Interface capabilities include remote on/off, remote sense and output trim. Protection features include output over-voltage and over-current, under-voltage lockout, and over-temperature. The HHS04Z52 provides 2,250Vdc input-to-output isolation, and is rated for basic insulation. Regulatory agency approvals include UL60950-3rd/CSA C22.2 60950-00, TUV EN60950:2001 and IEC60950-1:2001.
Pricing is $72 each in quantities of 1,000. Evaluation units are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.
