July 06, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Phihong has developed a new series of 18W, universal, 3-wire input, desktop adapters featuring IEC320 C14 inlet receptacles. The series, designated the PSAA18U, includes single 9-, 12-, 15-, and 24V models, all of which meet the performance requirements for Level V ENERGY STAR® efficiency marking protocol, and are therefore ENERGY STAR EPS Version 2.0-compliant.

Well suited for access devices, portable equipment, peripherals, and network hubs, Phihong’s low-profile PSAA18U adapters are also compliant with the United States’ Federal Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA).

"Fully aware of current global shifts in the consumer marketplace, Phihong continually strives to increase its selection of environmentally responsible, energy-efficient power supplies to fulfill the needs of a wider variety of applications and provide OEMs with the quality, cost-effective, versatile, and green products that end-customers demand," said Keith Hopwood, Vice President of Marketing for Phihong.

PSAA18U adapters come in non-vented, spill-proof cases and feature over-voltage and over-current protection with auto restart, short-circuit protection, and Class B EMI. Energy-efficient features include a minimum average operating efficiency of 80.3% and a maximum no-load power consumption of 0.3W.

The adapters are rated to operate between 0 and 40°C and in 0% and 90% non-condensing humidity. Additionally, all adapters in the series carry cUL/UL60950-1, IEC60950-1, and CE safety approvals and markings.

Each PSAA18U adapter measures 4.06" by 1.93" by 1.32", features a standard 2.1 by 5.5mm dc barrel output connector, and weighs 4.94 ounces.

Pricing for the PSAA18U series starts at $17.41 per unit.
