ON Semiconductor (Phoenix, AZ) has launched a new series of n- and p-channel devices, the company's first to utilize ChipFET packaging technology. The NTHx5xxxT1 family initially consists of nine devices in the eight-pin 1206 package. This package portfolio features single and dual packages with n- and p-channel polarity at three different voltages, including 8V, 20V and 30V. Operating voltages are as low as 1.8V.

"ON Semiconductor developed the ChipFET package to address consumer demand for smaller electronic devices with increased functionality," said Ramesh Ramchandani, director and general manager of power MOSFETs. "The new devices enable designers of next-generation electronics to solve board-space limitation issues, while maintaining the integrity of electrical characteristics in their end-products. Our expertise in innovative packaging techniques ideally position ON Semiconductor to bring unique power-management solutions to the portable and computing markets."

Samples and production quantities of the NTHx5xxxT1 devices are currently available. Suggested resale pricing ranges from $0.25 for single devices to $0.30 for dual devices, in 10,000-unit quantities.
