ON Semiconductor Intros Power Management ASICs

August 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor LLC (Phoenix, AZ) announced its family of standardized, power-management, application-specific ICs (PM-ASICs) that power multi-functional cellular phones, PDAs and other hand-held electronics. The NCP4100, NCP4110 and NCP4111 PM-ASICs are currently available for sampling on a non-disclosure agreement basis. Evaluation boards are also available under the same criteria.

The NCP4100 integrates a touch-screen interface and a comprehensive audio block into an 81-pin LFBGA package that measures 8mm x 8mm. Programmable features include the battery charger, a full-feature audio section, two synchronous buck regulators, two LDOs, a reset circuit and under-voltage lockout.

The NCP4110 provides a streamlined power management approach that is currently packaged in a 48-pin QFP package that measures 9mm x 9mm, and will soon be offered in a 7mm x 7mm QFN package. Programmable features include the battery charger, seven LDOs, the synchronous buck regulator and a reset circuit.

The NCP4111 is designed for the power management of hand-held electronics that utilize external accessories to charge the battery. The device is also offered in a 48-pin QFP and will soon be available in a QFN package. Programmable features include nine LDOs, a synchronous buck regulator and the reset circuit.
