Monolithic Power Debuts High Density, Non-Isolated DC-DC Power Module
Monolithic Power has introduced the MPM3570E high density, non-isolated dc-dc power module for space sensitive applications. The module provides a solution to achieve 0.3A output current over a 4.5V to 75V input supply range and measures 10mm by 10mm by 4.2mm. The device has an Iout maximum of 0.3A and a typical Iq of .03mA. It can provide an adjustable output voltage from 1.0V to 5.0V from an external FB resistor (Default 3.3V output). Also, the device allows a maximum switching frequency, fsw of 165.
The MPM3570E integrates a switching controller, inductors, power switches, a reasonable number of input and output capacitors, and all support components. And it requires a minimum number of standard external components. According to the company, this solution offering greatly simplifies board design, layout, and manufacturing requirements.
The use of synchronous rectification and control techniques achieves ultra-high efficiency, especially under light-load condition. A very low 5µA shutdown quiescent current in full temperature range is useful for battery-powered applications.
The module is EMI tested and delivers light load efficiency. The industrial grade device with EN control features an LGA package and has internal SS. It also provides a PG signal. The fixed device is also encapsulated. Standard features for the module include an internal fixed soft-start, remote enable control, and power OK indicator. It has fully integrated protections including thermal shutdown, over-current protection, and under-voltage lockout.
