Molex Debuts New Type III Mini PCI Connectors

March 24, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Molex Singapore Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) introduced its line of 124-pin, Type III, Mini PCI connectors that feature a mounting profile of 4mm or 5.2mm, easing the vertical space constraints and providing greater design flexibility for LAN and modem card manufacturers. The 0.8mm pitch connectors feature a patented anti-overstress feature that helps protect the latch from breaking. Plastic latches are available to help prevent scratching of the memory module. The connectors are also available with or without grounding clips, as well as front solder tabs or PC tabs.

The Mini PCI connectors feature stamped-and-formed contacts that provide good contact wipe and electrical continuity and have no sharp edges to damage the module. The housing is made of glass-filled, high-temperature thermoplastic to withstand IR reflow temperatures.
