Midtronics Intros Celltron Advanced CTA-2000

February 23, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Midtronics Inc. (Willowbrook, IL) introduced the CTA-2000 Celltron advanced stationary battery string analyzer for testing stationary battery management. Based on the industry-standard MicroCelltron, the CTA-2000 incorporates an extended test range, rapid voltage-only logging, and additional test memory storage to create stationary battery testing technology. The device is suitable for telecommunications (central office and outside plant), power utility (generation, transmission and distribution) switching and station batteries, uninterruptible power supply maintenance, and other professional stationary battery service applications.

The CTA-2000 features an operating range conductance of 100 to 19,900 Siemens; an approximate capacity range of 10Ah to +4000Ah; a voltage range of 1Vdc to 15Vdc; an operating temperature range of 0°C to +40°C (95-percent relative humidity, non-condensing); dimensions of 9in x 4in x 2.5in (230mm x 102mm x 65mm); a weight of 1lb/500gm; power requirements of one 9V high-capacity, heavy-duty, lithium battery, powered by battery under test for some test operations; 16 internal memory registers capable of storing 480 consecutive test results and string statistics; a quick re-test function to correct erroneous entries; and consistent and repeatable on-line testing without battery discharge.
