New Products Jun 22, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Microsemi Corp. (Irvine, CA), a manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and power management integrated circuits, announced that its Integrated Products Group has introduced a new flip chip array that can eliminate up to 50 discrete components used to protect LCD interfaces from destructive electromagnetic fields and electrostatic discharges.

Designated the LX7207™, the new flip chip measures 2.5 mm² and 0.65 mm high to save significant board space as well as cost in hand-held LCD display applications. The 5 x 5 array, which supports 10 lines of integrated low pass filters, is equally suited for data port and data line protection in wireless handsets, notebook computers, PDAs, MP3 players, portable terminals and PDAs. Filter response is characterized up to 6 GHz, with greater than 30 dB attenuation in the 800 MHz to 1,000 MHz range, and 20 dB attenuation in the common wireless LAN frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz to 6 GHz.

The LX7207 is priced at $0.68 in quantities from 1,000 to 5,000. Sample and production quantities are available immediately.
