January 31, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Micro-power Direct (Stoughton, MA) announced the addition of the D100 family, a series of miniature 1W dc/dc converters for applications in which space is at a premium. Twenty-seven single- and double-output models are available to provide 3.3, 5, 12, 15, ±5, ±9, +12 or -15V from a 5, 12, or 24V input. Standard features include an input-to-output isolation of 1kVdc and internal filter and efficiency as high as 81 percent.

Line regulation is 1.3 percent and load regulation is from 5 to 10 percent, depending on the model. Ripple and noise is 75milliV pead to peak. The converter's mean time between failure is 3.9 million hours.

The D100 family is packaged in a 0.77 x 0.24 x 0.4 inch single-in-line package, and weighs a maximum of 2.6 grams. Each module is specified for operation over -40 degrees to 85 degrees C with no derating or heatsinking required. Cooling is by free-air convection. The units are priced at $5 to $5.15 each in multiples of 100.
