Micrel Unveils MIC412x Family of MOSFET Drivers

April 11, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Micrel Inc. (San Jose, CA) announced three new families of high-performance BiCMOS/DMOS MOSFET drivers - the MIC4123/24/25 dual 3 A drivers, the MIC4126/27/28 dual 1.5 A drivers and the MIC4120/29 single 6 A drivers. The ICs augment Micrel's family of MIC4100/01/02 drivers that were launched in 2004. The latest devices are aimed at power MOSFET applications in the industrial, telecom, networking and datacom markets for applications in off-line power conversion, UPS and motor control.

The MIC412x family is designed to cover the full gamut of current power MOSFETs commonly used, and offers an operating voltage range of 4.5 V to 20 V, high-speed operation, low thermal resistance "exposed" pad SOIC and MSOP packaging technology, and a maximum operating voltage to 29 V.

The chips are offered in heatsink pad packages that are pin-compatible with Micrel's MIC44xx Series, as well as new, space-saving MLF™ packaging. All are lead-free (RoHS-compliant) and currently sampling, with production quantities available in 10 weeks. Pricing starts at $1.09 in 1,000-unit quantities for the MIC4123-5, $1.16 in 1,000-unit quantities for the MIC4126-8, and $1.05 in 1,000-unit quantities for the MIC4120/29.
