New Products Sep 19, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Micrel Inc. (San Jose, CA), a developer of IC and Ethernet solutions, launched the MIC5306, a new 150 mA low-dropout (LDO) voltage IC with an ultra-low dropout of 60 mV. The new IC is suited for today’s battery-powered consumer products, including cell phones, personal digital assistants, notebook computers, MP3 players, and digital cameras.

The MIC5306 features an ultra-low Iq of 16 mA (typical) and 0.01 mA shutdown current. It also offers a low drop-out of 60 mV (typical) at 150 mA, mcap stability, a wide Vin range of 2.25 V to 5.5 V. The IC offers an output-voltage accuracy of ±2 percent, over the full industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C.

The MIC5306 is available in fixed output voltages and is offered in thin SOT-23-5 packaging. The MIC5306 is currently available in volume, and pricing starts at $0.43 for 1,000-unit quantities.
