Maxon Precision Motors Intros RE-max Motors

September 05, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Maxon Precision Motors Inc. (Burlingame, CA) introduced its new RE-max 24mm (0.94in) diameter motors, which deliver the performance and life of a moving coil motor with Neodymium magnets. The patented, rhombic, moving coil design provides for long life, low electrical noise, fast acceleration and high efficiency. The ironless rotor allows for zero cogging and simple, accurate control. Maxon's RE-max motors are suitable for a variety of applications, including miniature pumps, surgical devices, air samplers, printers/labelers, robotics and laser measuring devices.

Four versions are available with metal or graphite brushes and single or double shafts, while power ranges from 6.5W to 11W. Maximum continuous torque is up to 12.4mNm (1.7oz-in). The motors weigh 71g (2.5oz) and the length is 31.9mm (1.25in). The ambient temperature range is from 30 to 85 degrees C, while the maximum efficiency is up to 90 percent, depending on the winding. Other options include ball bearings/sleeve bearings and terminals/leads. Several different windings are available to match the desired speed with available voltage.
