LTC Offers LT3472 Boost and Inverting DC-DC Converter

October 04, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) announced its new LT3472, a dual-channel (boost/inverter), +34 V, 1.1 MHz dc-dc converter that generates positive and negative outputs for biasing charge-coupled device (CCD) imagers. Its internal 350 mA/400 mA, +36 V switches can deliver up to 20 mA at 15 V and 50 mA at -8 V from lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries, providing bias for many popular CCD imagers.

The input-voltage range of 2.2 V to 16 V enables inputs that range from Li-Ion to multiple-cell alkaline/nickel-metal hydride batteries. Switching at 1.1 MHz, the LT3472 uses tiny, low-profile capacitors and inductors, and generates low noise outputs that are easy to filter. Schottky diodes are internal and the output voltages are set with one resistor per channel, reducing external component count. Packaged in a 3 mm x 3 mm DFN, the entire solution has less than 1 mm profile and occupies just 50 mm².

The LT3472EDD is available from stock, with prices starting at $1.95 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
