LTC Debuts New LTC4052 Battery Pulse Charger

September 18, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) introduced the new LTC4052, a stand-alone, fully integrated, pulse charger for single-cell, 4.2V, lithium-ion/lithium-polymer batteries. The LTC4052 dissipates approximately 280mW while fast-charging at 0.8A from a 5.25V input source. The IC is housed in a 10-lead, MSOP package and is suitable for portable electronics such as POS systems, printers, digital cameras, PDAs and mobile storage devices.

The LTC4052 does not require an external MOSFET or a blocking diode and it features an inductorless design; a 1-percent float-voltage accuracy; integrated C/10 detection; charge-status indication; an end-of-charge timer, wall adapter detection; over-current protection; and operation from a 4.5V to 12V input source.

Pricing for 1,000-piece quantities begins at $1.85 each.
