New Products Jan 16, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) debuted its new LTC3456, a complete power management system IC optimized for portable applications powered by dual-cell alkaline/nickel-cadmium/nickel-metal hydride batteries, USBs, or wall adapters. The LTC3456 delivers up to 150 mA to a fixed 3.3 V main output, and up to 200 mA to an adjustable (VBATT to 0.8 V) core output to power microprocessors, microcontrollers and their peripheral circuitry.

In addition, the LTC3456 provides a 3.3 V, 50 mA Hot-Swap™ output for flash memory cards and an always-alive VMAX to power a real-time clock. The LTC3456 is available in a low-profile (4 mm x 4 mm x 0.75 mm), 24-pin QFN package, making it suitable for space-sensitive packaged portable devices.

The LTC3456 is available from stock. Pricing starts at $3.95 each for 1,000-unit quantities.
