Low-Profile, High-Current VRM10.0 Inductors

September 18, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new series of low-profile, high-current inductors for high-frequency VRM10.0 applications. Offered in the 2727, 4027, 4031, and 5151 case sizes, Vishay Dale IFLR series devices offer high saturation current to 71A, very low DCR to 0.26mΩ, and inductance down to 0.072µH.

With a frequency range up to 2MHz, the inductors released today serve as high-performing, space- and power-saving solutions for voltage regulator modules (VRMs) and dc-dc converters in notebooks, desktop computers, and servers; and low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters.

The four parts being introduced include: IFLR-2727EZ-01 in a 2727 case size, with inductance values from 0.072- to 0.150-µH, typical DCT of 0.32mΩ, maximum DCR of 0.35mΩ, and saturation current rating of 30- to 58-Amps; IFLR-4027EZ-01 in a 4027 case size, with inductance values from 0.085- to 0.220-µH, typical DCT of 0.38mΩ, maximum DCR of 0.42mΩ, and saturation current rating of 33- to 70-Amps;

IFLR-4031GC-01 in a 4031 case size, with inductance values from 0.170- to 0.215-µH, typical DCT of 0.26mΩ, maximum DCR of 0.29mΩ, and saturation current rating of 44- to 60-Amps; and IFLR-5151HZ-01 in a 5151 case size, with inductance values from 0.21- to 0.44-µH, typical DCT of 0.32mΩ, maximum DCR of 0.35mΩ, and saturation current rating of 35- to 71-Amps.

Featuring a 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded package, the RoHS-compliant devices are specified for an operating temperature range of 40 to +125 degrees C, with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration.
