January 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Wuhan Lixing Power Sources Co. Ltd. (China) introduced the company's new button-cell lithium batteries, which feature a construction that ensures very low leakage at room temperature, only two percent of nominal capacity, enabling the batteries to have a shelf life that is said to be up to five times that of conventional dry cell batteries.

The new lithium batteries provide high stability, high durability, quick pulse-discharge characteristics and increased voltage ratings. Target applications include watches, calculators, portable computers, miniature radio receivers, CMOS memory backup power sources, and other electronic devices.

The batteries are specified for operation at temperatures ranging from 20 to 60 degrees C. The nominal voltage is rated at 3V, while nominal capacity ranges from 28mAh to 500mAh. The discharge current ranges from 50µA to 1.8mA. The button-cell batteries come in sizes ranging from 12.5mm x 1.6mm to 24.5mm x 5mm, and the battery weight ranges from 0.7g to 6.2g.
