Lin Engineering Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), a leader in step motor design, introduced its new 3609V size 14 motor, which measures 36.3mm x 19.8mm. The 0.9° size 14 motor is capable of up to 16 oz-in holding torque, and weighs 0.27lbs. The windings are encapsulated with a thermally conductive, ceramic-based polymer, which allows heat to be drawn away from the windings, allowing for more aggressive windings in the same small package.
The step accuracy of the 3609V is ±1.5 arc minutes. Additionally, Lin Engineering can place the 3609V in almost any customer supplied/designed housing. Industries currently using this motor in their applications are the medical, optical and surveillance.
