LEA Intros PowerVantage Surge Suppression Devices

January 23, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

LEA International (Hayden, ID) introduced its new PowerVantage™ surge suppression products, which feature low-clamp modules (LCMs) that use a patented MOV design, delivering both low-clamp and over-voltage capabilities. The LCMs meet industry standards for sensitive load applications.

Three models are available, the PV200, PV400 and PV600 – with surge capacities of 200 kA, 400 kA and 600 kA per phase, respectively. The system is also available in a number of voltage configurations. The electrical specifications include a nominal operating voltage of 120 Vac to 600 Vac, a frequency range of 47 Hz to 63 Hz, and a response time of 1 ns. Housed in a 24 in x 16 in x 8.8 in enclosure, the PowerVantage™ uses color-coded, field-replaceable modules, allowing surge capacity to be upgraded from 200 kA to 600 kA.

The PowerVantage™ system is available in Nema 4 and Nema 12 rated enclosures. It conforms to a number of industry standards, including UL 1449 and UL 1283. The PowerVantage™ surge suppressors are priced from $2,600, depending on the configuration.
