August 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) unveiled its new PAF600F dc/dc converter, which accepts inputs from 20Vdc to 36Vdc and delivers 600W up to 50A in an industry-standard, full-brick package measuring 60.69mm x 116.59mm x 12.45mm. Designed to address the requirements of distributed power application and power amplifiers, the device offers a power density >111W/in², an operating efficiency up to 90 percent, and two output-voltage choices of 12V and 28V.

The module comes with a wide voltage-adjustment feature and is capable of adjusting the output by -40 to +10 percent. Other standard features include current sharing, remote sense, over-voltage and over-current protection, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, and 1.5kVac isolation. The operating temperature range is from -40 to +100 degrees C with a baseplate. The modules can be convection- or forced-air cooled.

Pricing starts at $215 in 100-piece quantities.
