Illinois Cap Intros Radial-Leaded Polypro Film Caps for DC Link Applications

New Products Feb 13, 2012 by Jeff Shepard

Illinois Capacitor has launched its new MPP series of film capacitors in a range of capacitance values from 4.7 to 35µF with voltage ratings of 500 to 1500WVdc. According to the company, each capacitor, packaged in a robust, flame-retardant hard-plastic case, is suited for high-reliability power conversion and control applications. Tab-style terminals are tinned copper with positioning points for superior on-board stability and performance.

The MPP capacitors are targeted at switching power supplies and DC Link applications in products such as power inverters, UPS systems, solar heaters, induction heaters, motor controllers and other demanding applications. The company claims that the devices' high ripple current and very low self-inductance (35 nanohenries maximum) helps to simplify sensitive circuitry design.

The metalized polypropylene capacitors offer ESR characteristics from 6 to 15 mΩ and operating temperature ranges from -55°C to +105°C, with a life expectancy of greater than 1,000 hours. The parts are fully RoHS compliant, and each capacitor is 100% burn-in tested.
