IdaTech Unveils FCS 1200 NG Fuel Cell System

April 07, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

IdaTech Corp. (Bend, OR) unveiled its FCS™ natural gas (NG) fuel cell system, which combines a heat and power system, and further demonstrates IdaTech's multi-fuel reforming and system integration capabilities. The FCS 1200™ is the first fully integrated, portable, proton-exchange membrane fuel cell system operating as a stand-alone unit capable of creating its own hydrogen onboard to power the fuel cell.

The company is looking to further strengthen this solution and others by deploying units with development partners and incorporating customer feedback into the final commercial offering. As an example of this market-driven approach, IdaTech has developed a solar fuel cell hybrid solution by integrating its FCS 1200 system with a solar array. In response to the European and North American markets, IdaTech has developed a natural gas fuel cell system that has been designed for integration with various boiler systems. These systems, along with a liquid hydrocarbon FCS 1200 fuel cell system capable of operating on low-sulfur fuels such as kerosene, diesel, bio-diesel and gas-to-liquid fuels, demonstrate IdaTech's broad multi-fuel solutions and system offerings.
