ICC Announces New Battery Fuel Gauges

April 23, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

International Components Corp. (ICC, Chicago, IL) announced the introduction of a new line of battery fuel gauges designed specifically for power tools with nickel-metal hydride batteries. The fuel gauges provide continuous visual feedback on the state of the battery's charge.

ICC's new fuel gauges utilize accurate charge-counting technology to ensure that the charge status is correctly reported to supporting electronics, such as a battery charger or an LED display. The display uses four easy-to-read green LED segments, each of which represents 25 percent of the battery's capacity.

"From a marketing point of view, our fuel gauges offer real benefits to tool manufacturers as well as users," stated ICC Executive Director of Strategic Marketing Peter Sadler. "They're flexible enough to be used with a wide variety of power requirements, yet their 'off-the-shelf' nature allows both charger and tool manufacturers to reduce their time to market by eliminating the specific development cycle."
